Role Definition
The position will have the primary purpose of supporting the Quality Management System within the assigned operational area, by providing expertise and advice on production or product problems fed back from both internal and external customers. To conduct investigations, analyses information and facilitate teams dealing with issues/projects associated with resolution of quality problems.
What you will do
This position is a standard job throughout the corporation that may function in a staff capacity in a particular phase of Quality Assurance responsibilities in assigned areas, including CMM Programming, product test procedures and specifications, performing audits, improvements of products reliability and customer satisfaction through support of the NPI (New Product Introduction) program and resolution of metallurgical grief for steel/forgings at supplier or plant levels.
This position will have responsibilities for Quality Assurance in assigned areas, including product test procedures and specifications, performing audits, improvements of products reliability and customer satisfaction through support of the CPS (Caterpillar Production System), NPI (New Product Introduction) and CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) programs.
The position must develops plans and tools that are used to implement or support global quality systems or related process i.e. Cost of Poor Quality, APQP, PPAP, quality certifications, MQ11005 and MQ12005 etc. Implementation of MQ12005 will also align with the corporate requirements of the successful implementation of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) tools.
Will work with all employees to improve quality practices in their processes through quality manner such as daily coaching, tracking CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) projects & Scorecard, providing quality support if any poor results or negative trends occur, developing IQC training programs, providing training courses of quality specifications to employees, conducting internal quality audits, facilitating management reviews, etc.
This position is required to implement the Idea Generation Process and Corrective and Preventive action processes by clarifying and verifying all ideas with related persons and spot check, explain the validation reasons, and encourage all employees to make contributions to achieve zero defect in operations.
Required to be proactive to develop quality related control methodologies and systems such as Cost of Quality control company-wide. Encourage the implementation of the established systems. Analyze and solve problems occurring during implementation.
Actively support 5S/Lean Manufacturing/Class A and SAP and ongoing support, to help area owners set up goals and integrate 5S/Lean Manufacturing Practices with Internal Quality Certification system through standardization and documentation.
This position reports to a Quality Manager or a Quality Supervisor and works with supervisors, technicians and other support groups.
The position's primary customers are internal. The position is challenged to carefully evaluate problems and review a large number of possible solutions before selecting one option. Problems may be complex and can require the incumbent to develop solutions. The incumbent is free to determine the best way to complete job assignments in order to achieve desired results. Work is reviewed after completion, except in the most complex or high impact situations. Impacts key quality goals including Continuous Improvement, Process Quality, Part Quality, Internal Quality Certification, ISO 9000 Certification, etc.
Degree Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or Manufacturing curriculum desired.

Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies: Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Knowledge of the concepts, principles and techniques of root cause analysis (RCA); ability to use a structured approach to identify the causes of undesirable consequences in a manufacturing environment and the changes needed to prevent recurrences.
Top candidates will also have
3 - 5 years of experience and requires a thorough knowledge of quality concepts including process control, analysis, Caterpillar internal certification principals, and ISO9000 etc.
Quality tools knowledge and to be able to teach manufacturing/office employees how to properly apply quality tools or techniques
Use of precision inspection measuring devices
Complete understanding of GD&T
Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment, or in the quality field is desired
Proficiency in PC-DMIS and Quindos
Advanced computer applications, good oral and written communications skills are a must

Summary Pay Range:
$87,480.00 - $131,280.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
