Quality Engineer

The Opportunity:

Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company is looking for a dedicated Quality Engineer to optimize our Quality Assurance organization. The Quality Engineer will ensure exceptional product quality by independently maintaining evaluation systems, implementing inspection methods, analyzing processes, and conducting thorough quality assurance tests and statistical analysis to manage product quality risks.

This is a full-time, onsite role at our chemical manufacturing facility in Phillipsburg, NJ.

What we’re looking for

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a natural/life science discipline is required; Concentration in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Microbiology preferred.

Experience: 3-5 years relevant experience in chemical manufacturing or pharmaceutical industry; or an equivalent combination of education, certification and experience

Quality assurance experience, including root cause analysis, and CAPA process

Experience in deviation and complaint investigations, including root cause analysis tools and technical writing

Advanced level presentation skills to include preparing/delivering presentations to external business interests

Project leadership

Collaboration Tool: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

cGMP experience

Document Control system experience (IE: ETQ)

PowerBI experience

How you will thrive and create an impact

Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems/protocols.

Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.

Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment.

Oversee writing, revision, implementation and training of standard operating procedures and work instructions.

Conduct quality assurance tests and performing statistical analysis to assess the level of control and manage product quality risks.

Identify staff development needs in area such as training, technical skills, and safety.

Communicate with customers regarding quality related issues and complaints.

Review test results for raw material, in-process and final product samples.

Provide technical and quality operations support to other departments.

Drive efficiency, practices and policies that improve quality.

Analyze trends to improve quality and allocate resources to drive continuous improvement.

Provide direction to Process Engineers, prioritizing projects, assigning tasks, establishing completion dates and ensuring projects are completed on time.

Conduct annual product reviews.

Represent Avantor during customer audits.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Excellent written and oral communication skills are required

Able to interface effectively with all levels of employees

Must be detailed oriented, with strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and work independently to meet commitments with minimal supervision

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.

Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.

A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.

Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
