The Quality Engineer will support the SLS Stages Element of the MSMAS contract located at the NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) in New Orleans, Louisiana. \n

RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nTechnical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating assignments; plans and develops S&MA engineering and assurance activity that may have an important effect on major programs.\nPrepare, evaluate and, provide assessments of in-house and contracted quality related documentation including implementation of procedures.\nPerform reviews and assessments of QA\/QE documentation for compliance with NASA policy, Marshall Management System (MMS), Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) Directorate Organizational Instructions.\nSupport the preparation, evaluation, and assessment of documentation and processes for manufacturing, inspection, and test phases of programs and projects.\nParticipate in Government milestone reviews to evaluate certification requirements affecting design, safety, production, testing, and operation.\nDevelop and utilize tools to assure that all applicable quality requirements are identified for MSFC programs and projects.\nPerform drawing and procurement documentation review.\nEvaluate test results including the disposition of test anomalies and discrepancies.\nSupport MRB, participate in corrective action activity to improve product quality.\nParticipate in problem and failure investigations to determine root cause.\nProvide support on all quality areas to include Quality Plans, Surveillance Plans, Inspection Instructions, First Article Inspections, and NC resolutions.\nPerform support to Quality Process assessments as required.\nDevelop Metrics as needed.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\n

REQUIRED:\n\nThis position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.\nRequires a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering, or a related field.\nMust have 7+ years of recent and related work experience.\nIn lieu of degree: Candidates with a minimum of a high school diploma\/or equivalent, and 11+ years of recent and related work experience will be considered.\nKnowledge in NASA Spacecraft S&MA requirements for manufacturing processes in support of the design and development of flight hardware.\nPossess a working knowledge of AS9100 quality system requirements.\nAbility to read complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets. \n\n

DESIRED:\n\nThermal Protection System, Thrust Vector Controls, or Acceptance Data Package experience and knowledge is highly desired. \nEffective working within a team environment and as a stand-alone subject matter expert.\nExperience working with aerospace flight hardware in a Manufacturing and Production Environment.\n\n

STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:\n\nMust have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.\nAll of Bastion's employees must be team players. \nAble to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.\nAble to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.\nMust have a strong work ethic and must be safety culture oriented.\nMust be organized with good time management skills.\nGenerally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.\nWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). \nMay require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).\nRegular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.\nAbility to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.\n\n
