Quality Engineer - Hot Test
Job Description

Onsite - This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Flint, Michigan, on a full-time basis.

The Role

Responsible for providing direction, coordination, and follow-up necessary for the administration of 3rd party Hot Test for a new engine program.

Track and graph engines tested versus rejects, as well as graph rejects, and provide weekly summaries.

Lead problem-solving activities for identified failures to drive towards prescribed exit criteria.

Collaborate closely with the product team, Design Release Engineers (DREs), and Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) to drive all open issues to closure.

Work independently under general direction from the Launch Quality Lead and site Quality Manager.

Demonstrate a high level of perception and initiative in order to accomplish a flawless launch.

What You'll Do

Serve as the primary point of contact at the site for the Hot Test supplier.

Collaborate with Central Manufacturing Engineering and the Hot Test supplier to coordinate the timing of production requirements.

Manage the flow of engines to and from the Hot Test site to ensure efficient Hot Test operations and provide timely feedback to the plant.

Facilitate the release of purchase orders and approve invoices to ensure timely activity.

Track and analyze all results.

Initiate formal problem-solving activities for all failures and coordinate resources to identify root causes and drive towards prescribed exit criteria.

Report progress to leadership.

Coordinate input from internal and external customers to better understand customer needs and perceptions.

Periodically visit Hot Test Suppliers within a 50-mile radius of the site.

Set up controlled teardown of engine failures with a cross-functional team.

Manage out-of-process engines by prioritizing controlled buckets of defects.

Manage incoming and outgoing inspection and approvals for tested engines.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities

Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing-related fields or equivalent training with 1-2 years in Manufacturing and /or Quality experience

Experience in Manufacturing and/or Quality

High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others inside / outside the work group and site

Highly organized and self-directed

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results

Highly effective oral and written communication skills

High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult

Knowledge for formal Problem Solving techniques

Ability to effectively use computer software applications (MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, and Teams)
