Quality Engineer I - Distribution Center

Responsibilities

Provide process efficiency and suitability analysis and input to manufacturing engineering and production management.  Follow up and formal responses to supporting plants and service center will be required. Use of the Service, Credits and Manufacturing system for review and management of defective product and as a data source for decisions to issue Corrective Actions.  Support production process creation efforts in areas requiring quality control applications.  Support the use of statistics for product improvement and process control. Utilizing data to drive process stability.  Act as Facilitator to the Corrective Action process, providing data and Pareto analysis of problem parts and processes.  Provide Plant Performance Measures for the Quality function. Assist in the implementation of the ISO 9000 system. Provide ongoing product, process, equipment and method creation/revision input to owners of quality management system element for inclusion in system documentation.  Provide method design and impact analysis and input to manufacturing engineering and production management. Lead problem solving investigations, utilizing the 5 why process as a response and developmental tool. Support creating, building and establishing a quality system structured around the DC department strategy. Service branch visits is desired. Support plant 4 receiving inspection with initiatives to improve process.

Qualifications

This position requires a two or four-year college degree or 8 years’ quality experience and/or American Society of Quality (ASQ) (or equivalent) Certified Quality Engineer certification. Excellent computer literacy, word processing skills (MS Word) and spreadsheet skills (MS Excel) is needed for this position.  Knowledge of databases (Crown 360) is desired. Certain technical skills and training, such as quality tools and techniques, process capability theory and statistical process control (SPC) are required.  The incumbent should have good communication skills, the ability to work effectively with people and the personal drive/sense of urgency necessary to provide needed support in the time frames demanded.  This position requires an individual with the flexibility and freedom to travel (up to 10% travel).
