Position Summary and Purpose: An exciting opportunity for a seasoned Quality professional to provide critical leadership in the design and development space. The need is for a Quality Engineer to be an active participant on development teams with design engineers as we look to expand our product platform.
-Working in multi-functional teams, this individual will be the, Voice for Quality, as we develop new products and designs. This person will make sure proper consideration has been given to the Quality needs, and that adequate Risk Analysis has been done prior to product launch.
-The Quality Engineer will also be involved in the roll-out activities and process development as we integrate these parts into our manufacturing platform. While working in the context of multifunctional teams, this person will need to be very self-driven and self-motivated. They will be highly supported by management and the other QC staff, but will be the singular Quality presence on many of these project teams.
-The right person will need to have the confidence, experience, and knowledge to be able to lead and add value with little direction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Work directly with electrical and mechanical design engineers to develop new products and manufacturing processes.
+ Ensure Quality considerations are an important part of the early design & development stages.
+ Create and Document approved Quality Control plans
+ Develop and maintain other tools such as: Inspection Requirements, First Article Inspections, and other quality related documentation
+ Analyze risk in the design process using FMEA’s and DV&P’s
+ Work alongside Manufacturing Engineers to develop manufacturing methods. Including measuring and testing requirements.
+ Create, develop, and write test protocols and technical reports.
+ Develop standardized practices (SOPs) and processes for successful scale-up and manufacturing of products.
+ Serve as the Quality Subject Matter Expert when working in the Design Engineering space – teach, train, and mentor junior design engineers on Quality protocols.
+ Be creative and recommend solutions for manufacturing challenges related to new designs and processes.
+ Provide regular status updates to management and project teams.
+ Review Engineering changes and provide feedback on tolerancing, requirements, and desired implementations.
+ A secondary role will be to work with Purchasing and provide Supplier Quality support. There is not a separate supplier quality role, so this person will help fill that gap.
+ Work with Purchasing when developing new suppliers or qualify new parts
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Characteristics:
+ Effectively manages time and priorities. Will work independently and be the sole Quality representative in the Design Engineering space.
+ Delivers on commitments with a dedication to quality and process. Supports team objectives outside the routine responsibilities.
+ Takes initiative to proactively identify problems and provides suggestions for improvements.

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Required Experience:
+ Knowledge of, and experience with, risk analysis tools (FMEA, FAI, DV&P)
+ Knowledge of Quality principles and experience working in an environment where Quality was greatly emphasized
+ 7-15 years Quality experience in a manufacturing environment
+ Machining, metalworking, and assembly are all valuable experience, but not required.
+ Previous work in R&D, Product Development, or developing manufacturing platforms is a plus.
+ Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to quality control
