Job Summary:

Quality Engineer (QE) In this role, you will be focused on improving the performance of our quality to achieve production excellence. This position is of high visibility and key to the succession plans of the business. The Quality Engineer, working within the company Business Management System, supports Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering and the Quality Group (QA Lab and Document Control) in their efforts to meet or exceed our customers’ expectations and ensures that quality levels are maintained, while minimizing costs and maximizing productivity.
 

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Activities and duties may vary depending upon site specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: 

Follow up on problem analysis and containment. (Problem solving, 3D, 8D, 5WHY) Lead the efforts to identify the root cause and put preventative actions in place for quality and safety related issues. Control and follow up on corrective actionsExecution and follow up on audits: Product and Process AuditsSupport for the investigation and analysis of process defects when requiredSupport and follow up on new product launches, engineering changes and internal process changes (PCR, ECN, SCR, ECO, etc)Provides training to in-process inspection subordinatesPreparation and Implementation of Control Plans in all Project Development Stages & FMEA UpdatesResponsible for maintaining up-to-date records and ensuring that documentation is available and easily accessible for reviewActively participate in continuous improvement and cost savings ideas, promote Kaizen or Lean Manufacturing projects aimed at improving quality and reducing costs.Review activities related to PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning).Monitor metrics such as defect rate, rejects, scrapVerify that products comply with customer quality standards and applicable regulations (ISO 9001, IATF 16949).Manage training programs in QMS areas, as required

 

Activities may include, but are not limited to:

Manage nonconforming product and Material Review Board and all bonded inventoryMaintain test & measurement equipment calibration programMaintain all IMS-related documentation, e.g. Quality Manual, Procedures, Work instructions, and forms.Manage training programs in QMS areas, as requiredEnsure the IMS complies with the applicable ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 (IATF 16949 Desirable)

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Academic qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management Engineering or related fields.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Have general knowledge and be able to work with computers and programs (Excel, Word, Minitab, etc).Advanced knowledge of quality standards: ISO 9001:2015, desirable IATF 16949.Analytical skills: Ability to identify quality problems and propose effective solutions.Management of quality tools such as SPC, MSA, CP, AMEF, PPAP and APQP.Knowledge in reading GD&Ts / Drawings. Knowledge in process and product auditsMust have a strong detail orientation in problem solving (8D, 5WHY, etc.)English (Basic- Intermediate).
 

Preferred Requirements 

3-5 years of experience in manufacturing in a similar production environment.Track record of leading continuous improvement initiatives.Project Management and Time Management skills.
