Quality Engineer (West Union, SC)

The Quality Engineer at Itron would be tasked in developing, evaluating, revising, and applying technical quality assurance protocols/methods to inspect and test in-process raw materials, production equipment, and finished products. The selected candidate would ensure activities and items are in compliance with both company quality assurance standards and applicable government regulations, perform data review and identify trends in the inspection of finished products, in-process materials and bulk raw materials, and recommends corrective actions when necessary.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

This position requires engineering level review of data gathered from various stages of the product's life cycle including design test, manufacturing test, reliability test and field returns. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and increase production output. Lead problem solving initiatives using 8D methodology. Strong focus on continual improvement and reporting on process and product performance/ process capability studies. Liaison with purchasing, R&D and marketing on product specific initiatives. Management of quality system, data management and control utilizing centralized databases. Creation of analytical tools to support daily tracking of Quality metrics. Create and manage Control Plans, test plans, and other relevant documentation. Support external and internal audit programs. Provided technical guidance to Quality Technicians and Quality Auditors. Manage day to day activities of assigned direct reports. Ensure that established manufacturing inspection, sampling and statistical process control procedures are followed. May assure compliance to in-house and/or external specifications and standards, such as GMPs and ISO regulations. Evaluate and analyze the efforts in organizing, documenting, and interpreting inspection support documents and records.

Required Skills & Experience:

1+ years of related experience as a Quality Engineer in an Automotive Manufacturing environment Knowledge and use of AIAG Core tools Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. Knowledge of SQL and Power BI.

 


Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.


Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel small and medium sized components. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to lift weight or exert force up to 50 pounds. The employee in this position works in an environment where they may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, there is a risk of electrical shock, and there is vibration. The employee may be required to work with toxic or caustic chemicals, may be subject to higher noise levels, or work near moving mechanical parts.
