What You'll Do Plans and directs activities concerned with the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for processing materials into partially finished, finished material, or tangible products. May develop and implement methods and procedures for inspection, testing, and evaluation. Establishes programs to evaluate precision, accuracy of production, processing equipment, testing, measurement, and analytical facilities. Devises sampling procedures using statistical process control and other quality processes.  Ensures use of principles and requirements required by the NNSA (NAP-401.1A, NQA-1, etc.) and internal requirements are implemented in all activities at Pantex. Support Product Realization Teams, Nuclear Enterprise Assurance, Pantex Operations, Pantex Process Engineering, EP&C achieve mission delivery. Identifies and communicates risks and opportunities to Programs and Engineering concerning mission success. Provides technical assistance to production and engineering operations in the development/ implementation of operation processes, procedures, and plans. Review Disposition Documents, routing changes or improvements, and procedures for technical and requirements accuracy. Coordinates with operations personnel and management from other organizations, and must interface with internal and external customers to assist in the implementation of customer defined requirements, schedules and expectations.  Contributes to the organization’s performance in achieving and exceeding established goals and expectations. Performs activities in support of the organization's priorities and missions. Assists in identifying scope of work, schedules, and estimates, and ensures the execution and completion of all deliverables are within budget and schedule. Leads or participates in QA audits, assessments, inspections, surveillances, and customer engineering evaluation of processes. This includes internal project audits and vendor/supplier audits, as required. Works with personnel and management to communicate findings and issues. Identifies and recommends to management areas to be assessed based on risk analysis and performance indicators. Completes training as assigned in support of the organizations activities. Assists in developing and reviewing budgets, proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and related documents.

MS: No experience.  Typical engineering/science experience ranging from 3 to 7 years.  OR Master's degree.  Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.  Typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years. 10 or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.  The position requires high standards, excellent observation skills, superior written and oral communication skills, and superior interpersonal skills. A working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint is required. In addition, the applicant must meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2 (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science, 2 years job-related and at least 1 year nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2 alternative).  DOE 426.2 experience requirements can be satisfied following employment.  In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities.   (Ref. DOE O 426.2) Preferred Job Requirements Preferred candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering/Science discipline. Experience in quality/process improvements methods, statistical application/metrics methodology, engineering standards, measuring and test equipment, basic chemistry, and software QA programs. Formal training and/or experience in NAP-401.1A, or similar quality standards. Formal training and/or experience in NQA-1, ISO-9000, or similar quality standards. Training and experience in performing assessments. Knowledge of DOE Orders and NNSA quality requirements. Experience in, procurement document reviews, engineering design and design reviews. Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
