**Job Title: Quality Inspector**
**Job Description**
We are seeking a dedicated Quality Inspector for a Locomotive project to perform quality control inspections on parts and sub-assemblies of rail locomotives and engines. The inspector will ensure conformance to quality standards, document defects, and maintain inspection records with a high degree of accuracy.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform Quality Control (QC) inspections, including inbound and outbound inspections, documentation of defects, and buybacks.
+ Conduct visual inspections of parts and equipment to ensure conformance to quality standards and identify non-conformance where it occurs (NCR).
+ Follow engineering drawings, written work procedures, and verbal and written instructions to perform all tasks.
+ Use scales, tape measures, calipers, micrometers, combination-squares, and other measuring equipment to inspect parts and equipment.
+ Record data and findings from inspections in formal reports and related documentation.
+ Demonstrate excellent mechanical aptitude or progressive mechanical experience in rail car manufacturing and/or maintenance repair facilities.
+ Maintain and review all quality control inspection documentation (History Book).
+ Perform some inspections at supplier sites.
+ Read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints with proficiency in all inspection phases, including Part Fabrication, Receiving, Sub Assembly, Shell Assembly, Truck Assembly & Test, Interior and Cab, Exterior, and Under-Frame.
**Essential Skills**
+ Experience in inspection and quality control.
+ Proficiency in using measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
+ Ability to work independently and conduct final inspections of entire locomotives.
+ Experience with visual inspections and quality assurance processes.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
+ Competence in using computer-based systems for document control and job-related applications.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Minimum of two (2) years’ work experience in a QC Inspection field or equivalent.
+ Knowledge of AAR/FRA locomotive requirements (optional).
+ Ability to work in an active manufacturing environment, including climbing stairs and ladders.
+ Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documenting inspection results.
**Work Environment**
You will work in an active manufacturing environment that requires physical activities such as climbing stairs and ladders. The role involves using various measuring instruments and inspecting parts in different phases of assembly. Safety policies and rules must be strictly followed at all times.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Illinois.
