POSITION SUMMARY:
The Quality Inspector I performs routine incoming, in-process, final and first article inspection of material, components, and electro-mechanical assemblies for instrument manufacturing. In addition, the Quality Inspector I is expected to execute various activities to help support overall operations of Instrument Quality Control. The Quality Inspector I may seek guidance and general oversight from supervisors as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform incoming, in-process and final inspections in accordance with written procedures, statistical sampling plans, drawing and specifications. Maintain and operate inspection and test equipment (multi-meter testers, micrometers, calipers, pin gages, etc,) Route accepted or rejected parts, or final products, to the appropriate locations Perform the various procedures and processes needed to ensure quality products Accurately record all data and observations Identify non-conforming material and initiate nonconformance reports as necessary Perform quality data entry and reporting as required Organize and maintain cleanliness of incoming, in-process and final inspection stations Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent 0-2 years of experience in an industrial setting is preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of measuring tools; calipers, micrometers, scales, rules, height gauges Ability to read and comprehend basic assembly drawings, test procedures, and component drawings Reading, writing and math skills; to include understanding of fractions, decimals and conversions The ability to multi-task and work productively in a demanding environment with changing priorities Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with personnel at all levels Effectively communicate issues/problems and results that impact timelines, accuracy and reliability of laboratory data A demonstrated level of consistency in performance and aptitude for managing additional responsibility and accountability are required for next level consideration Proficiency in MS Office suite Experience with standard data analysis tools and databases (Excel, Access, SharePoint)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
There are aspects of this position that may require a person in this role be able to work at heights up to four (4) feet on occasion and with objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Up to 100 % of the day may be spent sitting or standing at a desk/bench working with a computer or other items that will require fine motor manipulation

COMPENSATION SUMMARY:
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $38,500 to $55,900. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
