Job Description: POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for inspecting and testing products at various stages of the production process to ensure that products fulfill customer specifications and quality requirements. BENEFITS: + Pay based on skill and experience ($23-$26/hr) + Health Insurance plus Dental & Vision coverage + 401K ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: + Responsible for inspecting the quality and conformance of products used in the manufacture of heat transfer products (i.e. heat sinks, radiators, heat pipes, extrusions) at various stages of the production process to ensure the product meets the specifications of the blueprint and/or job order. + Read and interpret specifications, blueprints, and/or standards to confirm product requirements. Compare product to requirements and ensure completion of operation or assembly. + Inspect product to determine compliance with order specifications, Boyd's, and its affiliated companies' quality control systems for compliance with legal requirements, and shipping and packing facilities for conformity to specified standards. + Identify product imperfections and damage. Perform minor cosmetic repairs on product as required. + Reject defective parts and record type of defect on part, container of parts or inspection tag as required. Ensure segregation of defective parts or materials. + Ensure calibration and maintenance is performed on inspection equipment. + Conduct various tests and quality checks on products. Ensure that all products have been tested and fall within standards, measure to specifications and within tolerances. + Actively participate in the disposition of non-conforming products, corrective and preventative action, and continuous improvement activity. + Operate any diagnostic equipment needed to perform job + Record and maintain test data as required + Process data and transaction into computer + Work to maintain the integrity of Boyd's Quality Systems + Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability + Ensure work area is kept clean and organized at all times + Knowledge, understanding, and compliance with company policies and procedures + Be an advocate for safety. Insist on safe practices throughout the inspection areas + All other duties as assigned SKILLS AND ABILITIES: + Ability to lift up to 40 pounds + Ability to read to set tolerances and work from blueprints + Ability to read and interpret metal rule + Ability to keep precise records and pay close attention to details + Computer skills required (i.e Microsoft Word and Excel, Email) + Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw and apply valid conclusions. + Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and/or correspondence. + Strong mathematical skills required, including ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. + Ability to work in a team fostered environment. + ISO9001/AS9100 internal auditing experience a plus QUALIFICATIONS: + High school or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent in relevant work experience. 2-year degree preferred + Proficient in accurate use of micrometers, calipers, and other measuring tools + Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills required COMPANY OVERVIEW: Boyd is the world's leading innovator in sustainable engineered material and thermal solutions that make our customers' products better, safer, faster, and more reliable.
