RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct and coordinate activities applying knowledge of production methods, processes, machines, and equipment. Provide leadership, direction and training for departmental employees and take necessary action to assure that Safety Practices, Quality standards, production schedules, housekeeping standards and cost goals are met. Responsible for all calibration, gage procurement and inspection conducted by Quality department employees.  Participate in the collection, data entry, analysis and distribution of information and data used to measure process and product from receiving, in-process and finished products.  Assist in the creation of data collection systems, collection and manipulation of data, in conjunction with quality department initiatives.  Assist in creating, developing, maintaining and implementing departmental procedures, instructions, forms, control plans and workmanship standards.  Inform employees of new policies and programs from management.  Evaluate employee performance, counsel employees and effectively recommends initial disciplinary actions, and assists in selection and promotions.  Monitor operations and activities of the unit inspection department, recommending improvements and modifications and prepares various reports on activities. Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, conducting Talent Development discussion sessions, rating performance, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews.  Responsible for coaching, motivating, mentoring, and developing direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities. Participate in the maintenance of ISO 9001:2008 quality system, including participating in internal audits and ensuring calibration and inspection activities meet requirements of the ISO standard.  Regularly review the needs of their employees. Create a new position by getting authorization from upper management.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a four-year relevant degree and five years’ experience in a quality related environment, or a two-year degree and ten years’ experience, or relevant experience. .  ASQ certified SSGB or SSBB desirable.  Principles and practices of employee supervision, including work planning, assignment review and evaluation, discipline and the training of inspection staff. Requires an individual with good communication skills with ability to teach others and participate with teams. Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and possess working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) is required.  Must be able to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
