Ames Research Center (ARC) employs a Quality Management System (QMS) that ensures all work at the Center is accomplished in accordance with the appropriate Agency and Center level requirements. MEIS, an Astrion subsidiary, partners with Ames via the PESS contract where we supply project and engineering support services for space flight, aero and research projects. We are adding to our QMS team to assist Ames in maintaining the robustness of their systems. This team, together with the government team, ensures the Center's Engineering, Science, and Technical critical aerospace flight work is accomplished in accordance with all Agency and Center level requirements for complying with and operation under the AS9100 “Quality Management Systems - Requirements for Aviation, Space and Defense Organizations”.  For all other work depending on criticality, complexity, and customer requirements, the QMS operates under the AS-9003 and/or ISO-9001 Quality Management System standards.  The QMS is a system process approach for developing, implementing, and improving the quality of Ames Engineering, Science, and Technical Projects, and is integral to delivering quality products and research throughout all phases of the Space Flight and Research project life cycle.   

What you will do...

ARC is adding to its team to support them in improving and maintaining their Quality Management System called the Ames Quality Management System or AQMS in the following areas:  The AMS Internal Auditor and Center Directives Management System (CDMS) manager.  The ideal candidate will perform both functions.

 

AQMS Internal Audit Function

Implement all aspects of the NASA-compatible AS-9003/ISO-9001/AS-9100 AQMS internal audit program, including scheduling, planning, conducting, and closing out audits; developing and updating audit procedures and checklists; preparing audit findings and reports; and conducting, evaluating, tracking, and verifying root cause analysis and corrective actions. Internal auditor must be well versed in an internal audit process, possess sufficient experience in the design, assembly, or inspection/test of complex aerospace products and possess AS-9003, ISO-9001 or AS-9100 auditor certification (AS-9100 certification is preferred).The internal auditors are responsible for conducting all aspects of the audits, for developing the audit checklists and for writing the audit findings and reports. Additionally, the reporting deliverables should include both individual audit summaries, overall program analysis, and trending summaries.

 

Center Directives Management System (CDMS) document management Function

Manage the process for review and comment of HQ-developed updates to NASA Policy Directive (NPDs) and NASA Procedural Requirements (NPRs). Coordinate reviews of NPDs and NPRs with effected organizations at Ames, consolidate comments, and submit comments to NASA HQ by the defined deadline. Manage the process for maintaining Ames Policy Directives (APDs) and Ames Procedural Requirements (APRs). Notify responsible organizations of expiring documents in an appropriate timeframe to ensure sufficient time is provided to approve the update prior to expiration. Oversee the process of organization draft update, review, and comment by relevant organizations at the center, resolution of review comments, and final approver by the Center Director. Skills you will need... At least two years’ experience in the design, assembly, or inspection/test of complex aerospace products. Experience and certifications to train and certify AS-9003, and/or ISO-9001 and/or AS-9100 auditors. Experience building and implementing an internal auditing program. AS-9003, and/or ISO-9001 and/or AS-9100 certifications as an auditor
