Job Description
Responsible for the management of the Marion Quality Assurance program. The Quality Assurance Manager is a hands-on leader and is responsible for ensuring the quality, food safety, and regulatory compliance of the company’s manufacturing output. Monitors, checks and inspects all facets of the production operation that directly or indirectly affect the quality food safety of the finished products. Works cross-functionally with the operations team and provides guidance and counsel to all operations departments where measurements have shown potential problem areas exist. Trains and imparts knowledge on food safety practices and standards to employees. Coordinates responses to customer complaints as requested and provides technical information on responses to same.
ResponsibilitiesDevelops, implements, and maintains quality and food safety programs and directs activities to ensure company compliance.Identifies and manages product and facility quality and food safety issues and opportunities for improvement. Performs root cause analysis and develops robust preventive measures.Manages SQF food safety and quality programs.Coordinates regulatory and customer audits and inspections.Manages QA Lab Supervisors and technicians to ensure analysis is prompt and in compliance with GLP’s. Responsible for all functions of the quality assurance technicians and laboratory.Source and create relationships with third-party laboratories.Performs periodic quality audits and plant sanitation inspection to ensure compliance with GMP’s.Reviews, validates and updates QA standard operating procedures and laboratory methods.Manages and implements yearly verification of HACCP program.Maintains Recall Program and coordinates Mock Recalls and initiates traceability exercises.Coordinates and supervises pest control activities.Approve, maintain, and continuously monitor vendors in accordance with the Approved Supplier Program.Act as primary liaison with various outside auditing agencies.Coordinates responses to customer complaints as requested and provides technical information on response to same.Oversees period end quality summary for customers.Communicates via telephone or mail with internal and external customers.Promotes company mission statement through Management by example.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree, preferably in Food Science, Biology, or related field.Minimum of 5 years of Quality & Food Safety experience.HACCP certified and Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI).Working knowledge of FDA regulations concerning food processing.Possesses excellent human relations skills, communication skills, and be able to work with all levels of teammates, suppliers, customers, and the general public. Detail-oriented and must have experience with statistical quality control. Able to deal with utmost confidentiality with proprietary information. Must be able to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer. Must be able to communicate clearly in English both verbal and written form.Work Environment
Hours are 7am-4pm, M-F with some OT.
