Quality Manager

Wastequip, LLC, the leading manufacturer of recycling and waste handling equipment in North America, is seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead our efforts in building an integrated systems for managing quality processes. This includes human work factors, logistics, material flow and production data to identify trends and areas requiring quality improvement. This position will provide consultation on complex projects and is considered to be a top level contributor/specialist regarding quality. Travel will be required for this role (up to 50%).

Responsibilities

Uses lean tools (standard work, visual management, etc) and advanced quality concepts (such as FMEA, DMAIC, APQP, PPAP, etc.) to continuously improve the quality of product and reduce cost of poor quality. Manage the overall Quality Management System per defined standards. Lead Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives using methodologies such as Kaizen/Six Sigma. Transform QC (quality control) based system to a QA (quality assurance) based system Managing customer issues to effective resolution Managing and enhancing the effectiveness of the CAPA system Driving the process to achieve effective root cause solutions Managing and enhancing the effectiveness of the internal audit system Establishing and maintaining key departmental goals, objectives and performance metrics Managing the process of documenting, enhancing and maintaining effective inspections, tests and calibration systems to assure product compliance. Develop, train, direct, coach, evaluate, and lead others Review engineering specifications and related information to obtain knowledge regarding manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities affecting plant capacity and efficiency. Identify opportunities or implement changes to continuously improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of machining processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts. Assist in the layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to ensure safety and quality objectives are being met. Implement statistical process control (SPC) in key processes to reduce variation. Monitor and addresses all issues entered into the corporate CQA (Customer Quality Alert) system. Monitor supplier process capability and quality performance. Assesses claims for appropriate level of information  inputted by the CSS team, including order acknowledgements, photos, full descriptions, cost information, and other relevant items in order to appropriately process.  Reviews the information supplied in each claim and determines if it meets approval or denial based on Toter standards. Responsible for all fields of warranty approvals – Residential, Retail, and Pro.  The scope of coverage also includes warranty and quality items.  Once a decision has been made, approves /denies or otherwise informs the CSS or RSM involved of the decision and any pertinent criteria for the decision. Tracks and populates data in Salesforce to understand any trends occurring. Works with Quality, Production, and Engineering to provide field feedback, trend and population data to better our delivered quality.  Develop processes to assist CSS, RSM’s, and field personnel to better communicate warranty and quality expectations. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree required, engineering discipline preferred 5+ years of experience in engineering, operations, R&D, within a manufacturing environment preferred, 5+ years’ experience in quality 3 -5 years of experience in coaching and executing quality programs Excellent customer service attitude – understanding the importance of VOC and prior management of Root Cause/Corrective Action measures Project management skills and experience Ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet strict deadlines Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine cost of quality and continuous improvement initiatives Solid analytical problem solving skills Experience in Lean manufacturing techniques and concepts Intermediate to advanced experience level with MS Office applications required
