This position requires considerable time on the plant floor inspecting or overseeing the inspection of both raw material and the finished products. Exercise sound judgment in their decision-making taking the customer and the plants needs into consideration when doing so. Primary Responsibilities for this role: + Oversee internal processes and procedures to ensure quality, through inspection of the final product and verify compliance to inspection records + Understand the customers’ needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes that can create a replicable procedure that then can be taught to the team of inspectors/operators + The maintenance of IATF16949 and keeping certifications current + Revise Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, and other documentation + Maintain IATF documents level I, II and III. + Perform internal audits and implement corrective actions as warranted + Perform any training of procedures and work instructions on plant floor + Maintain Process Flows, FMEA, and Control Plans + Monthly QMS/Management reviews + Gage calibrations and the gage calibration system are being followed to the required specification + Assist with the maintenance of the ISO program that aids to identify and to control the impact of its activities, its products and services on the environment + Perform six sigma green belt projects as assigned + Follow all customer PPAP’s procedures (production part approval process) submissions for approval are completed and meet internal and external timing to establish confidence in the production process + Assist in problem solving and implementation of corrective actions to mitigate future issues + Review and monitor all NCM’s (non-conforming material) (scrap / rejects) and drive corrective action to address root cause + Update all work instructions for the plant floor as it relates to quality while working with the plant management team + Perform layered audits as required + Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis. + Responsible for hiring, performance management, employee relations, grievances, monitoring employee productivity, training and disciplinary measures that fosters self-correcting employees and superior retention of Quality Inspectors and Quality Technicians + Responsible to enforce and support company policies and procedures, escalating matters of importance + Assist in ensuring adherence to all of Company policies and procedure + Other duties as assigned Requirements + Experience in steel and aluminum blanking process a plus + Possess an intricate knowledge of how the product works + Systems oriented + Access customer supplier portals via internet to review performance + Able to foster a sense of teamwork and also work independently + Strong knowledge of the industry, customer, and quality standards + Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to get your point across to a diverse group of people + Keen eye for details and a result driven approach + Excellent organizational and leadership skills + Critical thinker and problem-solving skills + Good time management skills, able to meet deadlines + In-depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards + Excellent math abilities and working knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods + Valid driver’s license to drive to other locations as needed + Adherence to the Company attendance policy Supervisory Responsibility This position does have supervisory responsibilities of Quality Technicians and Quality Inspectors. Work Environment Work performed in a plant, mill, warehouse or an office setting. Time spent on the plant floor and in a managerial office. Work times may involve alternating rotation of day shifts and night shifts as needed. Physical labor, from walking to heavy lifting, is required on a daily basis. The physical demands described here are representative of those essential functions must be successfully performed. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend hours may be required based on the needs of the business. Travel This position requires limited travel to other Company locations or customer sites.
