Quality Manager
Job Title: Quality Manager

Job Description

Responsible for the maintenance of an effective and efficient quality management system that assures products consistently meet customer and company requirements. Lead a team of 4-5 quality auditors and quality control personnel. Review in-process quality failures and determine the disposition of nonconforming materials. Correspond with customers and suppliers to resolve problems. Lead root cause investigations through to effective long-term resolutions. Collect and analyze performance data and charts against set indicators and parameters. Productively engage with customers and vendors on a regular basis. Coordinate, communicate, and host customer and other audits as required. Evaluate quality results in relation to product specifications. Determine 'pass' or 'hold' on borderline cases. Authorize and sign certificates of analysis certifying material and test procedures. When necessary, conduct actual tests as a working manager. Coordinate the inspection, testing, and evaluation of customer returned goods and recommend rework or other corrective action. Periodically conduct quality audits of suppliers and plant operations as applicable. Plan and conduct on-site audits of suppliers' facilities and recommend quality improvements. Recommend changing suppliers who fail to meet quality requirements. Participate in customer audits and implement changes to meet customer requirements. Drive PPAP activities and submissions. Serve as the 'window' to the customer regarding quality issues associated with new product introductions, engineering changes, complaint management, and customer audit activity.

ResponsibilitiesMaintain an effective and efficient quality management system.Lead a team of 4-5 quality auditors and quality control personnel.Review in-process quality failures and determine the disposition of nonconforming materials.Correspond with customers and suppliers to resolve problems.Lead root cause investigations and implement long-term resolutions.Collect and analyze performance data against set indicators and parameters.Engage productively with customers and vendors.Coordinate, communicate, and host customer and other audits.Evaluate quality results in relation to product specifications and determine 'pass' or 'hold' on borderline cases.Authorize and sign certificates of analysis certifying material and test procedures.Conduct actual tests as a working manager when necessary.Coordinate the inspection, testing, and evaluation of customer returned goods and recommend corrective actions.Conduct quality audits of suppliers and plant operations periodically.Plan and conduct on-site audits of suppliers' facilities and recommend quality improvements.Recommend changing suppliers who fail to meet quality requirements.Participate in customer audits and implement changes as necessary.Drive PPAP activities and submissions.Serve as the 'window' to the customer regarding quality issues related to new product introductions, engineering changes, complaint management, and customer audit activity.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in engineering or science preferred.Minimum of 7-10 years of quality management experience in metal fabrication or related field.Experience and applied understanding of ISO9001 standard.ISO9001 Internal Auditor experience preferred.5+ years in a supervisory, lead, or management role.Experience in supplier quality, audit, assembly, and welding.Additional Skills & QualificationsAmerican Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications preferred: Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB), Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA), or Certified Quality Manager (CMQ/OE).Proven skills in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Gauge Reliability and Repeatability (GR&R), and Total Quality Management (TQM) practice.Thorough knowledge and understanding of manufacturing systems.Solid working knowledge of metal fabrication processes and materials.Well-developed human relations and people management skills.Strong written communication and presentation skills.Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.Experience in implementing Operational Excellence Projects (SMED, Six Sigma, Lean).Black Belt certification preferred.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $140000.00
