Quality Manager

The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the quality assurance processes in the plastic injection molding operations. This includes ensuring that products meet company and industry standards, identifying quality issues, implementing corrective actions, and ensuring continuous improvement of processes to maintain and enhance product quality.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise quality control staff, including Quality Inspectors and Technicians. Develop and train the quality team to ensure high standards of performance. Duties & Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance processes and systems to ensure product quality meets or exceeds company and customer standards. Lead the creation, execution, and analysis of quality audits, inspections, and testing procedures for injection molded products. Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to identify and address any quality issues, ensuring that production schedules are met without compromising on quality. Establish and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track and improve quality levels and operational efficiency. Manage non-conformance issues by investigating root causes, implementing corrective actions, and monitoring effectiveness. Develop and enforce quality control standards, processes, and documentation, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and customer specifications. Review customer complaints, product returns, and warranty claims, and determine the root causes of issues. Work closely with the product development and design teams to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability and quality. Ensure all employees follow safety guidelines and work in compliance with industry safety regulations. Prepare and maintain quality documentation such as inspection reports, certifications, and quality control records. Manage quality-related customer communications and support customer audits and inspections as needed. Conduct training for employees on quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies to enhance product quality and reduce defects. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure incoming raw materials meet quality standards. Stay up-to-date on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to plastic injection molding. Required Skills/Abilities: In-depth knowledge of plastic injection molding processes and quality assurance standards. Strong understanding of ISO standards, quality systems, and industry regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949). Experience with quality tools and methodologies such as root cause analysis, FMEA, SPC, CAPA, and Six Sigma. Ability to analyze data and generate reports to communicate quality metrics and trends. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to implement effective corrective actions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization and customers. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while ensuring high standards of quality are maintained. Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate a team. Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality standards. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field. 5+ years of experience in quality management or quality assurance, with at least 2 years in the plastic injection molding industry. Certifications such as Six Sigma, Lean, or ASQ (American Society for Quality) are highly preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing for extended periods and walking throughout the facility. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Must have good visual acuity for product inspection and detailed documentation. Occasional travel to customer or supplier locations may be required.
