The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that all products and processes in the manufacturing facility meet the organization's quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves developing and implementing quality control systems, monitoring performance, and leading initiatives to continuously improve product quality, processes, and customer satisfaction.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Quality Management Systems (QMS):
Develop, implement, and maintain a robust Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with relevant industry standards.Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and to establish quality and reliability expectancy of finished products.Conduct regular internal audits to ensure adherence to the QMS and regulatory requirements.Lead external audits and coordinate responses to findings or non-conformances.Process & Product Quality:
Establish and monitor quality standards, processes, and procedures to ensure products meet customer and regulatory expectations.Oversee quality control (QC) activities, including inspections, testing, and validation processes.Oversee and coordinate the activities of the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) team, ensuring accurate and timely inspections.Participate in and support the Material Review Board (MRB) to address non-conforming materials and make disposition decisions.Actively manage inspection/quality practices to eliminate scrap, escapes and minimize customer returns.Analyze production data and identify trends to address quality issues proactively.Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve quality-related issues.Continuous Improvement:
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.Lead cross-functional teams to identify and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).Develop and implement process improvement plans to reduce defects and ensure consistent product quality.Foster a culture of quality awareness and accountability throughout the organization.Drive cost improvement and productivity initiatives throughout the quality assurance and inspection functions.Leadership & Training:
Manage and mentor the quality team.Provide training and resources to ensure all employees understand and comply with quality policies and procedures.Supervise workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.Serve as a key point of contact for quality-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.Supplier & Customer Relations:
Establish and maintain quality requirements for suppliers, including supplier audits and performance monitoring.Address customer complaints and implement corrective actions to improve customer satisfaction.Liaise with customers on quality matters and ensure prompt resolution of issues.Metrics & Reporting:
Develop and report on quality metrics, including defect rates, inspection results, and audit findings.Prepare and present regular updates on quality performance to management.Ensure accurate documentation of quality-related activities, including inspection records and CAPA reports.Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field is a plus.Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a quality management role within a manufacturing environment.Proven experience with quality management systems, regulatory compliance, and audit processes.Experience with CMM programming and operations is a strong advantage.Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control techniques, and statistical analysis.Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., SPC, FMEA, root cause analysis).Experience in MRB processes and disposition of non-conforming materials.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.Certification in quality management or related fields (e.g., CQE, CQM, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt) is preferred.Technical Proficiency
