Job Description

The Quality Professional is responsible for ensuring product quality. This position ensures the consistent implementation of the Quality Assurance Policies at a local level and will oversee laboratory analyses to ensure that quality standards are met, intervening in case of anomalies, and promoting the adoption of product quality control methods and equipment management to all personnel.

ResponsibilitiesSupervise and conduct sampling, testing, and results analysis of QA procedures.Develop new tests and analyses, carry out non-standard tests, and recommend purchases of new equipment and devices.Supervise and support plant cleaning plan.Supervise laboratory activities and the employees engaged in inspections and testing activities to ensure high productivity and high technical integrity.Ensure compliance with product, process, and control standards.Verify raw and packaging materials meet quality regulations.Communicate anomalies to the Plant Associate Director.Support purchasing with supplier technical objections.Coordinate systems implementation and quality improvement plans.Assist production and packaging operators with compliance checks.Collaborate with external packaging suppliers.Adhere to environmental policies and report concerns.Assist with GMP and HACCP training, audits, and consumer complaints.Manage Integrated Pest Management and Plant Cleaning programs.Participate in the food safety team and ensure FSMA compliance.Act as backup for gluten-free certification contacts.Participate in mock and actual traceability activities.Perform other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsQuality assuranceQuality controlFood scienceFood manufacturingLaboratory skillsFood safetyLab documentationAdditional Skills & QualificationsBS in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related degree required.Preferred to have 2+ years of quality assurance experience in a food-manufacturing environment.Preferred to have previous leadership, supervising, or food safety management experience.Work Environment

SHIFT: Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm

This is a 12-month contract position, slated to run until the end of the year. If business needs warrant an extension of this contract or if there is an opportunity for this person to transition to a direct hire, they will be kept well informed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lift 25 lbs regularly. Able to lift 50 lbs. Can't be color blind or visually impaired.

Dress Code: Will need to have steel-toed or composite boots for their first day. Work-appropriate jeans and a work-appropriate shirt is the typical dress code.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
