Quality Specialist:

This role is in the Operations QC group and reports directly to the QC Area Manager.  The technical specialist is responsible for the quality assurance of the QC Lab operations.  The position involves hands-on evaluation of paint testing methods as well as researching and writing test methods and training laboratory techniques.  

Job Description:  

Keeping current with customer requirements and international test methodsMaintaining Quality Data for SAP S4 Hana, including inputting data for new products.Leading and conducting gage measurement analysis.Maintaining gage calibration and standards tracingMaintaining training records to be in compliance with IATF 16949.Training and certification of laboratory techniciansMaintaining the laboratory scopeWorking with product and process chemists requiring new or changing instruments and test methodsMeasuring and reporting Key Process Indicators for laboratory performanceConducting Root Cause Analysis investigationsHelping with data analysis for investigations and special QC projectsWriting and updating work instructions and test methodsOrdering and maintaining calibration standards and reagentsCalibrating and verifying instrument functions.Possible Instrument maintenance.

Requirements:

Associates or bachelor’s degree in a scientific field preferably chemistry or engineering.3 years experience in an industrial or laboratory setting preferably in coating industry.Good communication, data presentation and interpersonal skillsWilling to work occasional non-standard hours and days.Familiar with ASTM standards, ISO Standards and IATF 16949.Knowledge of basic problem-solving tools. I.e. – 8D, 5-Why, Cause and Effect Tree, etc.Green Belt Six Sigma Certified preferred.Knowledge of databases and software such as MS Excel, MS Word, SAP, and Minitab.
