The 3rd shift Quality Supervisor, under the general guidance of the Quality Control Supervisor, he/she plans will help to manage the Quality department operation to achieve operating goals and objectives consistent with Plant and Division objectives (safety, quality, productivity, etc.). The Hourly Supervisor will have employees under his/her direct supervision and provide leadership supporting the night shifts. This position directly impacts the facility’s ability to meet customer requirements, pass inspections and meet all general food safety requirements. They understand and align business operations and Plant Quality Control as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
Leadership:
Work with and manage direct reports and provide leadership and technical support to the Quality Department. Provide input for direct reports’ job performance (including Performance Reviews and 1-on-1 meetings) and provide feedback to drive growth and development. Address personnel issues with Department Manager and HR involvement. Conduct Safety investigations, lead monthly Safety meetings, and facilitate safety programs and audits. Lead and support Engagement Action Planning meetings and champion on-going engagement activities.
Training:
Facilitate all training assessments and provide specific feedback to employees who do not pass training levels. Work with Department Manager and HR Manager when employees reach disqualification level. Work with other departments as needed to ensure training schedules and trainers are coordinated. Develop a training matrix to manage and track department training. Document training progress as required including scanning/filing training information into personnel folders if needed. Maintain an active role in new employee development. Update the Level Training Assessment guides to ensure they remain current. Identify training program shortfalls and work with Department Manager to implement necessary changes.Process/Audit Requirements:
Ensure compliance of all Quality Systems requirements for the plant. Ensure Plant sanitation schedules are maintained. Assisting with customer complaint investigation and corrective actions. Assisting with samples for customers and sales as required. Must be able to understand a wide variety of processes in the facility without being an expert in each.
Other duties as assigned.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
2-5 years of quality or manufacturing experience required Prior or current leadership experience required Experience with Food Safety Standards, HACCP, audit processes, SPC, RCFA, DOE and other quality work system programs
SKILLS:
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with various manufacturing and staff departments at the plant, and with groups outside the plant, (other plants’ personnel, division Quality, vendors) Software Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)
SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
General schedule is an 8-hour Sunday-Thursday assignment covering C and D team shifts; however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours. Occasional Lifting up to 40 lbs. Reading computer screen or other electronic devices. Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
