Quality Systems Specialist

Shift: This role is 1st Shift, 6:00 AM-3:00 PM
Hourly Rate: $25.50 an hour
Position Responsibilities
+ Preparing, implementing and training food safety/quality assurance policies and procedures.
+ Performing routine food safety/quality inspections, gap assessments and risk assessments.
+ Ensuring that standards and safety regulations are observed to comply with QSHA and plant standards.
+ Addressing and discussing gaps and proposed solutions with leadership and cell teams.
+ Document Controller for food safety/quality documents.
+ Creating food safety/quality training materials and operating manuals as needed.
+ Promote and ensure Regulatory, HACCP, FSMA, GMPs and CPS practices are being followed.
+ Reviews regulatory documentation for product release (i.e. record review) including CCP/oPP records and various food safety/quality documents.
+ Coordinates food safety/quality assurance activities and provide technical assistance and training to personnel.
+ Writes and reviews SOPs and other food safety/quality documents and reports.
+ Able to communicate, written and verbal, with all levels of the organization for gap reviews, risk assessments and test result reviews.
+ Performs internal audits to verify compliance with established SOP documentation, GMPs, sanitation SSOPs, and Safe Quality Food (SQF) efforts.
+ Lead third party audits (i.e. SQF, regulatory, customer, internal).
+ Leads and participates in food safety/quality, CPS and process improvement projects.
+ Supports the assessment and management of Food Safety Plans and Food Quality Plans.
+ Monitors and reviews SPC data and reports.
+ Provides support for the quality data software-Infinity QS (i.e. table maintenance, add new SKU’s, review results).
+ Leads the cross checks program.
+ Leads the EMPC program.
+ Leads the plant sensory program.
+ Assists with recipe management.
+ Assists with critical consumer complaint investigation.
+ Work with operations personnel on quality and food safety issues and verify operations control systems are functional and being followed.
+ Assist in trouble-shooting quality related issues.
+ Provides back-up for the Plant Quality Manager.
+ Provides back-up and supports the quality lead position.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
+ Science Degree preferred.
+ PCQI Trained
+ SQF practitioner certification is a plus.
+ Previous experience in quality assurance or similar field.
+ Working knowledge of tools, methods, and concepts of quality assurance.
+ Solid knowledge of relevant regulatory standards.
+ Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
+ Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
+ Strong attention to detail.
