Basic Qualifications:

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred. Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Quality Tech I, Chemical Lab in our Fullerton, CA location to support 2nd shift. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California.  We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The primary function of this position is to acquire and analyze chemical process solution samples, monitor cooling system, boilers, waste treatment water and water softeners and perform periodic testing in accordance with work order specifications and industry standards.  

Check the work schedule, obtain supplies required to perform the work and prepare for operations. Put on all the required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear. Perform a safety check on any equipment to be used in the daily operations and ensure all safety devices are functioning properly. Check the work order for solutions to be sampled and analyzed. Work with outside vendors to obtain chemicals, quotes for projects and equipment and submit into Oracle purchasing system. Keep inventory of all chemicals used in lab, processing, and NDT, work with EHS for testing and ordering new chemicals. Monitor cooling system, boilers, water softeners, and waste treatment water as per the predetermined maintenance schedule. Perform other special analytical projects as assigned. Complete paperwork for processing certifications at a computer workstation. Calibrate machines in department and make lab products and lubricants as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Performs general housekeeping duties in work area as needed. At end of shift, secures equipment and completes all necessary paperwork. Participate in preparation and execution of Nadcap chemical process audits.
