Quality Technician

Quanex is looking for a quality conscious, Quality Technician to join our 2nd Shift team located in Cannon Falls, Minnesota.

As a Quality Technician, you will work closely with front line extrusion personnel, quality engineers, material and process engineers, R&D, tool makers, and all extrusion support departments.

Play a critical role helping to maintain quality standards for extrusion and extrusion support processes Work Schedule: Monday-Friday: 2:40 pm to 11:00 pm Saturdays and Sundays Off!

What Success Looks Like:

Attends work on time and for scheduled hours each day, is cooperative, autonomous and self-motivated. Follows all safety procedures, rules, and guidelines and promotes a safe working environment for all employees and outside visitors. Conducts routine inspections of finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and acts when nonconforming conditions are found Perform tests and measurements using various tools and equipment. Documents inspection results, prepares reports, and maintains accurate records. Aids in identification and investigation of quality issues and non-conformities. Collaborates with production and engineering teams to implement corrective actions and verify the effectiveness of actions. Participates in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to team discussions. Performs basic preventative maintenance on inspection equipment. Helps in maintaining, calibrating and tracking all quality control related equipment. Works effectively with peers, vendors, customers and all levels of management. Trains employees on the quality system, including documentation, procedures, measurement techniques, and appropriate sampling frequencies. Assists in customer required PPAP’s and FAIR’s; and in maintaining and monitoring the SPC system as well as the ISO9000 system.

 Your Credentials:

1-3 years of quality or related work experience in a manufacturing environment. High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Comfortable and skilled in training employees in a manufacturing environment and experience with Lean Manufacturing and ISO9000 Previous measurement device usage such as Fixtures, Calipers, Gauges, Comparators, etc. Good organizational and math skills Ability to understand and use statistical process control, basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, Minitab and SAP

The hourly rate falls within a range of $21.00 to $26.00 including shift differential, depending on experience, qualifications, and job responsibilities.
