Summary: The Quality Technician is responsible for performing a variety of inspections, testing and analysis to support the milling operation and ensure that raw materials and products meet internal requirements and customer specifications. Compensation: $22.00 - $26.00 hourly Primary Responsibilities: Quality Analysis • Perform visual, chemical, physical and instrumentation testing and analysis of raw materials, in-process ingredients, finished product and R&D samples to ensure specifications are met. • Ensure that daily production meets all product standards and production schedules. • Analyze findings from foreign material control devices such as final product sifters, magnets and metal detectors. • Prepare and analyze samples brought to the laboratory (including running required analysis and recording). • Ensure proper mill control by reviewing and verifying the calibration of analytical equipment in the laboratory. • Accurately record data in quality control logs and business systems as required. • Communicate analytical data results with mill, and blending personnel in a timely manner. • Provide analytical trend analysis to team members as requested. • Prepare and maintain standard samples for comparison. • Participate in internal and external Cross Check Programs. • Verify incoming ingredient certificate of analysis. Administration & Lab Maintenance • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining good housekeeping in the laboratory. • Maintain minimum stocks of all laboratory equipment and supplies. • Set-up, plan, research, perform and complete lab projects as required. • Creation and submission of certificates of analysis to customers when applicable. • Perform other responsibilities as requested. Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED. Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Grain Science, Chemistry, or related field preferred • Minimum of 1 year experience as laboratory analyst or related experience • Knowledge in basic laboratory and analytical procedures • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications • Excellent organization skills, and abilities to make decisions on quality issues • Ability to work any shift and required overtime
