PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Quality Technician reports directly to the Components - Quality Leader and is responsible for quality control testing and reporting of synthetic and self-adhered roofing underlayment as part of plant audits and product understanding. This role also maintains an accurate log and creates objective succinct reports of warranty claim investigations. Quality is a total team effort, and this role is an integral part of quality from start to finish, providing an exciting opportunity to be part of significant achievements and positive outcomes.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Continuous commitment and attention to safety in the laboratory work environment Adhere to all environmental, health and safety protocols and actively participate in safety meetings, audits and events Actively engage as a member of the Science & Technology Test Lab Operations team, and ensure safe operation of lab equipment Participate in efforts to achieve zero defects in quality Responsible for technical / quality lab operations and serve as leader/primary contact for quality complaints, and aiding the manufacturing sites in their investigations and resolution of the quality issues for the Roofing Division Train team members on process and protocol developed to ensure repeatable test results Execute / Lead round robin testing initiatives and Measurement System Analyses (MSA’s) Perform follow-up testing on retain samples from the manufacturing plants and report results Draft test method Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and create training videos that will be used across the manufacturing plants and labs Become the Subject Matter Expert for synthetic and self-adhered underlayment product and raw material testing Aid in the development of additional Quality Control processes to help resolve customer concerns in a timely manner Maintain the quality complaint inventory management system
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma Ability to perform lab procedures and follow established testing protocols Understanding of basic statistics and ability to analyze and interpret data Ability to lift 40 pounds Ability to travel up to 5%
