Quality Technician II

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for supporting Quality Assurance (QA) functions in the receipt and release of materials as well as maintaining accurate records in support of manufacturing and quality. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Monitor temperature charts and data loggers and ensure timely notification of excursions 

• Maintain up-to-date Release Pass/Hold/Fail tags on all inventory intended for customers or related to Quality testing. Ensure records indicate correct physical location of inventory in quarantine or on hold status.

• Participate in inventory and cycle counting activities on Quality Control testing materials and quarantined areas, and prepare documentation of counts.

• Inspect and receive incoming raw materials to ensure quality standards are compliant to customer requirements and document findings.

• Assist in identifying and developing processes to improve quality and efficiency of the disposition, batch record review and incoming inspection processes.

• Review batch records and associated documentation (e.g. Non-conformances, Deviations) for adequacy prior to product disposition. Work with internal customers to resolve any documentation issues. 

• Draft Certificate of Compliance (COC) for MSD products. 

• Maintain records pertaining to activities performed following GDP and retention procedures. 

• Train Quality Technicians on procedures, protocols and Operational Quality practices

• Specific duties may vary depending upon departmental requirements

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associate’s degree is required.

o High School Diploma and additional experience may be substituted for Associate’s degree.

o Bachelor’s degree is preferred

• A minimum of one year of relevant experience is required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Understanding of basic scientific principles and measurements

• Attention to detail, self-motivated and organized

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to organize, present, and articulate ideas both verbally and in writing.

• Demonstrated analytical skills, as well as the ability to demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications as well as a capacity to learn additional software applications as the need arises

• Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected including the ability to multi-task in an environment with changing priorities

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• There are aspects of this position that may require a person in this role be able to work at heights up to six feet on occasion and move/life objects weighing up to 25 lbs.

Up to 100 % of the day may be spent sitting or standing at a desk/lab bench working with a computer or other items that will require fine motor manipulation

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is performed in a standard office environment and in a laboratory environment with chemical reagents.

COMPENSATION SUMMARY:

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $38,500 to $55,900. This salary range represents a general guideline as MSD considers other factors when presenting an offer of employment, such as scope and responsibilities of the position, external market factors, and the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, education and experience. Employees may qualify for a discretionary or non-discretionary bonus in addition to their base salary. These annual bonuses are intended to recognize individual performance and enable employees to benefit from the Company's overall success.
