**DEPARTMENT:** Generation Resources - Quantitative Analysis – Kansas City Headquarters or Topeka General Office
**LOCATION:** Kansas City, MO or Topeka, KS
**Scheduled Work Hours:** Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Other hours as required)
_Note: Analyst level and pay will be determined according to candidates’ education and experience. This role falls into a progression including Quantitative Analyst I/II/Sr/Lead._
**Scheduled Work Hours** : Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Job may require additional hours with short notice including evenings and weekends. Structured Hybrid Work Policy: employee will be in the office Tuesday through Thursday.
**Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:**
* Perform market simulations and provide nodal power market forecasts using PROMOD or similar energy production cost modeling software to lead or support analysis of Evergy’s load and generation portfolio, renewable integration studies, and market rule impact assessments
* Modeling to support fuel and interchange budgeting and jurisdictional rate case filings
* Run sensitivity analysis with varying market parameters including load, fuel prices, outages, etc.
* Analyze market, historical, and fundamental data to perform model forecast validation for model accuracy
* Provide transmission congestion analysis and basis outlook in regional power markets
* Develop presentations and reports to concisely, comprehensively, and accurately share findings on complex matters
**Qualifications**
**Education and Experience Requirements:**
* Experience working in energy or commodities trading, integrated resource planning, finance, origination marketing or system development
* Analyst or Senior Analyst: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, mathematics, engineering, physics, economics, or an equivalent discipline with a strong emphasis in statistical analysis, finance, computer modeling or problem solving
* Lead Analyst: Master’s degree in finance, business, mathematics, engineering, physics, economics or an equivalent area with an emphasis in statistical analysis, finance, computer modeling or problem solving
* Effective oral and written communications skills are a must
**Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:**
* Experience in working with nodal cost production models: PROMOD experience preferred, AURORA, PLEXOS or other nodal modeling experience may be considered
* High level quantitative, analytical skills with an understanding of U.S. power market structures and fundamentals
* Ability to manage voluminous amounts of data with ability to visualize data and identify pattern trends
* Proficiency in Excel, and scientific programming languages such as Python or R
* Familiarity with power market data services including Energy Velocity, YES Energy, and other industry data sources
* Strong analytical background with ability to design and develop new predictive/analytical modeling tools
* Ability to communicate and present model inputs and results in a clear and understandable format
**Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:** None
**Working Conditions:** Majority of work will be conducted in a normal office environment. Requires some work beyond normal working hours as workload and project demand. Must have satisfactory work record including good attendance.
