**Compensation Overview**
The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

**What Is the Opportunity?**
Travelers Data Engineering team constructs pipelines that contextualize and provide easy access to data by the entire enterprise. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in growing and transforming our analytics landscape.
In this role, you will be responsible for implementing Master Data Management (MDM), data integration, data transformation, along with data exchange using webservices for various business units, on-premise and cloud. You will act as a subject matter expert across multiple applications, systems and technologies, leveraging technical and business knowledge to drive the planning and execution of complex initiatives. Participate in the design and development process, provides technical leadership on complex projects, and leads the investigation and resolution efforts for critical, high impact problems and incidents. You will work in scrum teams as well as work across various business units to develop, integrate and evolve data product and platform for the organization.
In addition to your strong analytical mind, you will bring your inquisitive attitude and ability to translate stories found in data by leveraging a variety of data programming techniques. You will leverage your ability to design, build and deploy data solutions that capture, explore, transform, and utilize data.
**What Will You Do?**
+ Acquire and interpret business requirements, create technical artifacts and determine most efficient design solution
+ Development and maintenance of MDM systems according to stated business and nonfunctional requirements.
+ Development of ETL programs to ingress and egress data between multiple source systems and MDM systems.
+ Work on cloud data integration between third party data and Travelers and across Travelers business units.
+ Develop resolution strategies for data quality issues by employing appropriate error detection and correction process. Perform root cause analysis and recommend improvements.
+ Data profile analysis of relational data and no SQL data to find data anomalies and develop reports for business discussion.
+ Work as the liaison between business and IT to ensure that data related business requirements are clearly defined and communicated to the team for design and development.
+ Identify opportunities for process improvements related to master data management, develop strategies to enhance data quality and governance, and implement best practices.
+ Well versed in the following data domains: Master Data, Operational Data, Analytical Data, Unstructured Data, and Metadata.
+ Some experience in leading team members.
+ Adapting to change in technologies with gravity towards cloud.
**What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?**
**Development Experience:**
+ 8 years of related experience in software development, data management or related field, with experience in implementing MDM systems using Informatica, Reltio MDM platforms a plus.
+ Experience in developing programs, jobs using platforms such as Informatica IDQ, Power Center, Databricks etc.
+ Experience in writing advanced SQL queries for data analysis and processing using Oracle data base.
+ Experience must include defining standardization rules, data quality rules, cleanse rules, creating and maintaining data quality scorecards.
+ Strong understanding of MDM concepts, data governance, data quality management and data integration.
+ Experience with Cloud technologies and deep knowledge of AWS.
+ Experience with integration with MDM preferred.
+ Experience in messaging and web service integrations.
+ Experience with RDMBS such as Oracle and NoSQL database like MongoDB
+ Experience tuning all aspects of data processing
+ Unix and/or other scripting experience
+ Prefer experience developing operations support guides
+ An Agile mindset with experience working in Agile environment, familiarity with tools such as Jira.

+ Able to expertly assess, design, develop, configurate and support applications, systems solutions, and interfaces for multiple systems to achieve business and/ or technical requirements.

+ Fully understands business applications and/or technical system environments in which the system operates.
+ Demonstrates proficiency in business concepts. Demonstrates expert knowledge of applications/systems and concepts.

+ Leverages enterprise and industry best practices and standards. Works to ensure component interactions follow and promote design best practices.

**What is a Must Have?**
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training with data tools, techniques, and manipulation.
+ Four years of data engineering or equivalent experience.
