Global R&D/Technology Manager

Your role and responsibilities

As R&D Team Leader, you will work on ABB’s leading Low Voltage technology platforms, including LV MCC, LV Switchgear and LV Busways, developing new products that address critical market demands and meeting requirements, fully compliant with relevant ANSI- IEEE, NEMA & UL standards. As a leader of the R&D team, you’ll will be supporting technology center manager to establish an open and innovative culture with clear technology vision and strategy. The work model for the role is: ONSITEYou will be mainly accountable for:• Serving as the key technical entry point and high-level discussion partner for the country/region regarding technologies addressed by the local R&D organization.• Supporting in the development of medium and long-term strategies, deriving consistent local strategies and targets, and implementing them in the local organization• Planning capacity, people, and resources for R&D projects and manages conflicts efficiently.• Staying on top of strategic technology, customer, and market developments to provide guidance in local areas of responsibility.Our team dynamicsYou will join a dynamic, talented, high performing team, where you will be able to thrive.

Qualifications for the role

Bachelor degree in engineering required (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred) PLUS a minimum of 12 years of experience in product development and design of related electrical equipment, preferably with electrical power distribution equipment such as power protection, motor controllers, power inverters, transformers, meters, etc. Masters degree in electrical or mechanical or engineering, a plus. Direct experience with any of the following is highly preferred: Arc resistance Product design / mitigation, Motor Control Design, Communication and protective relays, Simulations for dielectric, static or dynamic forces. Knowledge of circuit breaker design, instrument transformer and operation principles of protection in electrical power systems are desirable Must have strong analytical skills with a solutions-oriented, engineering problem solving mindset. Ability to work collaboratively in a project team environment, as well as working independently to support and deliver effective solutions for assigned engineering projects required. Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
