Summary: The R&D Electrical Specialist I assembles, tests, and commissions electrical components for machines and robots that support golf ball performance testing to industry and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

Independently troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild electrical/electronic systems and machines. Builds and wires electrical panels as specified by engineers. Completes physical assembly, wiring, and testing of machines and robots for golf ball testing. Use wiring diagrams and electrical schematics during troubleshooting. Collaborates with mechanical specialists and/or engineers to design and build projects.Reads wiring diagrams and schematics. Conducts basic troubleshooting of electrical systems and machines. Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

100% successful completion of Training Performance Compliance (TPC) educational requirements and a minimum of 3 years experience in an electrical discipline maintaining and repairing industrial equipment; or 2. Approved Technical Associates Degree/College Level certificate in Electrical/Electronic Discipline and a minimum of 3 years experience in an electrical discipline maintaining and repairing industrial equipment; or 3. A minimum of 5 years of industrial experience in a skilled trade with an electrical discipline with no formal post-secondary education. Required to complete TPC educational requirements for any skills gaps identified. Demonstrate ability to install, repair, troubleshoot and maintain machinery and equipment. Should work well with others, have good verbal, written communication & interpersonal skills. Read, write, and speak English. Knowledge of basic Microsoft Office products (i.e. Outlook). Working knowledge and use of safe work practices including Lock Out-Tag Out and NFPA - 70E. Knowledge and ability to utilize a multimeter for diagnosis. Formal electronic training on AC/DC circuits. Formal PLC training- basic overview of PLC function, communications, working knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, and instrumentation & controls experience. Associate’s degree in relevant field and/or a level of knowledge typically acquired through a two-year college degree program (ie. Experience in a machine shop). 3-5 years experience in electro-mechanical design and/or assembly required. Must not be adversely affected by materials in a golf ball manufacturing environment.  Must be able to lift 45 pounds and have the physical stamina necessary to stand at workstations for long periods of time as required to complete assignments. Must have good or corrected eyesight.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.  Must be able to travel on company business as necessary, occasionally on short notice.  Must pass all Health Services testing requirements for this position. Willing to learn how to support, create, integrate, program, troubleshoot and improve controls systems which utilize Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) based PLC technology (CompactLogix, ControlLogix, MicroLogix, and/or etc.) Electrical assembly, wiring practices, and safety. Must possess basic mechanical competency.
