Your role and responsibilitiesIn this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.The work model for the role is: #LI-OnsiteThis role is contributing to the Electrification business Smart Power division in Hyderabad, India.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tIn this role you will work on business priority projects of defined scope, apply concepts to issues of moderate to high complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. Perform assigned tasks including definition, approach, analysis, review, and implementation on schedule and within budget•\tMake technical decisions by applications of specialized knowledge/skills, Leverage prior work where appropriate, Recommend technical approach, required resources, and schedule interfaces with otherEngineering Departments, Test Laboratories, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Research, and Suppliers as required•\tInterface with internal and external stakeholders to assure requirements are met; build strong relationships, Communicate status and problems to project leaders and management•\tLead documentation of technical design details & test results; participate in program reviews, and prepare invention disclosures where appropriate, Provide guidance and instructions to technicians while carrying out test activities•\tLiving ABB’s core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business. Qualifications for the role\tA Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or higher\t5 - 8 years of experience in R&D of LV Circuit Breakers and Switchgear; Experience in Concept Design, Dynamic Analysis, Prototype development and testing of Switchgear mechanisms. \tPreferred exposure on overall Product Development processes, quality, value engineering, costing of electrical distribution and control products like ACB, MCCB, MCB, Contactors, and Switches.\tGood awareness of circuit breakers technology, applicable regulatory standards, and test requirements thereof.\tProficient in CAD Tools like Creo, Pro/ENGINEER; hands-on expertise on Dynamic Mechanism analysis using Creo/ ADAMS; basic awareness / hands-on expertise on simulation tools like ANSYS etc.\tHighly motivated team-player with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, and strong communication skills.
