Job Title: R&D Engineer
Job Description

We are a leading manufacturer of hospital beds, with corporate headquarters in Batesville, IN. We are seeking a dedicated R&D Engineer to join our Sustaining Engineering team. This role will involve design changes for medical device products such as hospital beds and equipment after they are released to production. The position follows a hybrid work model, working on-site three days per week (Tuesday to Thursday) and off-site two days (Monday and Friday).

ResponsibilitiesInvestigate, analyze, and develop solutions for complex technical problems.Apply new technical tools and concepts with support from other team members.Implement design changes for mechanical components and product assemblies using our product release process.Experience working with design control management systems in the release of components and documentation.Lead cross-functional project planning sessions to develop project schedules using project management tools.Work with various team members to complete engineering design changes.Manage multiple small projects simultaneously through the execution of project plans.Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, supply management, and marketing personnel.Potentially work with sales to support customer requests or work directly with customers.Guide other engineers on the team in areas of expertise.Essential SkillsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology).3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.Experience creating DFEMAs and PFMEAs.Experience working with design control management systems in the release of components and documentation.Knowledge of corrective action plans, CAPA, cost estimation, biomedical, medical device, and materials engineering.Additional Skills & QualificationsDesign experience utilizing textile material and foam specifications is an asset but not required.Familiarity with Design Control per 21 CFR Part 820 and Product Development.Work Environment

This position is primarily desk/office-based, with occasional activities involving direct work on a hospital bed. The hybrid work model allows for three days on-site (Tuesday to Thursday) and two days off-site (Monday and Friday).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
