Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic R&D Engineer to join our team in Batesville, IN. This role supports the development of new products within our textiles group, specifically focusing on hospital beds. This position offers a hybrid work model with three days on-site (Tuesday to Thursday) and two days off-site (Monday and Friday). As part of the Sustaining Engineering team, you will be responsible for implementing design changes to improve medical device products post-production. This includes addressing new compliance requirements and supporting supply chain needs. The role involves mechanical design, development, and general product updates.
ResponsibilitiesInvestigate, analyze, and develop solutions for complex technical problems.Apply new technical tools and concepts with support from team members.Implement design changes for mechanical components and product assemblies using the product release process.Utilize design control management systems for the release of components and documentation.Lead cross-functional project planning sessions to develop project schedules using project management tools.Manage multiple small projects simultaneously through the execution of project plans.Collaborate daily with engineers, technicians, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, supply management, and marketing personnel.Potentially work with sales to support customer requests or directly with customers.Guide other engineers on the team in areas of expertise.Essential SkillsBachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology)2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience creating DFEMAs and PFMEAsExperience with design control management systems for component and documentation releaseKnowledge of corrective action plans, CAPA, and cost estimationProficiency in biomedical, medical device, and materials engineeringExperience in mechanical design and R&DProficiency in SolidWorksExperience in failure analysis and new product developmentAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with textile material and foam design and specifications is an asset but not requiredFamiliarity with Design Control per 21 CFR Part 820 and Product DevelopmentWork Environment
This is primarily a desk/office-based position with occasional activities involving working directly on a hospital bed. The role offers a hybrid work model with three days on-site and two days off-site.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
