General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) is looking for an experienced R&D Engineer I to join our Lincoln, NE organization. We are expanding rapidly and looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help support and shape this organization as we grow.
GD-OTS provides reliable and affordable composite products to the defense and commercial aerospace markets. With more than 60 years of expertise, GD-OTS designs, develops, manufactures, and tests a full range of composite missile and space structures, including rocket motors, pressure vessels, launch tubes and fuel tanks.
Major Position ResponsibilitiesInitiates the design, development, execution and implementation of technology research projects. Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products. Plans and executes applied research.
Conducts research, design, and development activities with the goal of developing new or improved products, processes, or services. Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability. Applies research theories, principles, and models when conducting experiments and research activities.Conducts market research, tracks projects, builds spreadsheets evaluating trade space, designs presentation slides, and executes business-oriented tasks. Summarizes research results and communicates findings to internal and external bodies.Assesses the scope of research projects and ensures projects are on time and within budget.Develops technical documentation for all projects.Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings. Basic QualificationsAssociate's Degree and 0-3 years’ experience required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
