**The Opportunity**
As R&D Engineer I at our St. Paul, MN location, you will be part of our Electrophysiology (EP) product development team focused on delivering the future in diagnostic, imaging, and ablation therapy catheters and EP capital equipment. This role will involve a range of responsibilities including but not limited to requirement development, testing and data analysis, and test method development and validation. In Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) business, we’re advancing the treatment of heart disease through breakthrough medical technologies in atrial fibrillation, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.
**What You'll Work On**
+ Conduct bench and preclinical studies supporting product development teams for concept feasibility and formal regulatory submission
+ Draft study protocols for preclinical feasibility studies and design validation studies
+ Draft reports summarizing the studies and associated data analysis
+ Operate EP and OR laboratory equipment to facilitate execution of preclinical studies
+ Plan, coordinate, and execute activity in support of project goals
+ Support design reviews and physician visits
+ Support development of risk management documentation
+ Gain an understanding of the quality and regulatory requirements of Abbott, FDA and ISO regulations
+ Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
+ Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
+ Perform other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, biological sciences, medical/clinical science or equivalent experience
+ Experience working within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment
+ Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
+ Proficient in collaborating with project stakeholders (client and internal), end-users, business partners, and technical team members
+ Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
+ Ability to plan, execute, analyze, and document individual scientific studies
+ Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data using statistical methods
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ GPA: 3.0 or higher preferred
+ 1+ years’ experience designing, testing, manufacturing or other engineering support
+ Medical device experience
+ Statistical analysis experience
+ Experience working with an electronic document control system (Windchill, etc.)
+ Experience working with cross-functional teams in a geographically diverse, matrixed organization

The base pay for this position is $48,000.00 – $96,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
