Job Title: R&D Engineering Technician
A leading global medical device company dedicated to developing and delivering innovative lifesaving products and software solutions for EMS, hospitals, public safety, and the military is seeking an R&D Technician to join their team in Irvine, CA. The product portfolio includes AEDs, trauma kits, ventilators, temperature management solutions, and more.
Job Summary:
Seeking a skilled R&D Technician to assist in team, group, or department activities and functions in the development of new or revised medical products. The ideal candidate will be competent in the use of general-purpose laboratory equipment, methods, and practices utilized in product development and familiar with personal computers and standard office software applications. This role involves some contact with outside vendors and contractors and works under engineering direction with minimal supervision.
Essential Functions:
+ Build R&D test fixtures per specifications, providing design assistance and feedback.
+ Provide test fixture design input and documentation.
+ Execute test protocols per instructions with minimal supervision and document results.
+ Build prototype assemblies per specifications, providing design assistance and feedback.
+ Present test reports and design improvements to R&D project team members.
+ Interface with vendors and manufacturing on assembly processes.
+ Source parts and supplies as needed.
+ Troubleshoot complex circuits, mechanical assemblies, software functionality, or accessories with engineering direction.
+ Assist other departments and company personnel as necessary.
+ Contribute to lab organization and management.
Required/Preferred Education and Experience:
+ HS Diploma and 6 years of experience required, or
+ Technical Certificate and 3 years of experience required, or
+ Associate's Degree required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Understanding of basic electrical and mechanical engineering principles.
+ Practical knowledge of complex tasks associated with job focus.
+ Ability to build prototypes from schematics.
+ Ability to perform rework on PWB with surface mount components.
+ Ability to troubleshoot down to component level.
+ Ability to follow semi-complex test procedures and protocols.
+ Ability to write basic test protocols and reports using guidance documentation or templates.
+ Proficiency in using basic and complex tools in the lab area.
+ Ability to learn basics of more advanced tools with little supervision.
+ Capability to follow multiple tasks and provide progress updates.
+ Capacity to visualize new solutions to problems with limited supervision.
+ Welcomes creative ideas and solutions.
+ Positive attitude and willingness to take on difficult challenges.
+ Ability to work successfully within a team atmosphere and contribute to team objectives.
+ Medical product experience is a plus.
+ Computer literacy is required.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
