R&D Model Shop Machinist

What R & D Model Shop Machinist contributes to Cardinal Health

Research and Development Model Shop Machinist is responsible for designing and developing prototype tooling for new products including building plastic injection molds and product test fixtures.

Responsibilities

Applies working knowledge of machine shop and injection molding techniques to build and develop prototype tooling

Support projects for multiple departments in the R&D function

Provide effective and timely job scheduling information to extended team members within the R&D function.  Identify and inform project teams of short- and long-term resource constraints.

Creative Problem Solver – identify technical solutions for rapid prototyping and product development challenges.

Provide effective technical input that makes design concepts more manufacturable.

Qualifications

Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Machine Shop preferred.

2+ years of related professional work experience preferred

Experience designing/fabricating plastic injection mold tooling

Good verbal and written communication skills

Developed problem solving, decision making, and communication skills with a potential for leadership

SolidWorks or other CAD experience desired

Applies knowledge and company policies to complete a variety of tasks

Demonstrates a working knowledge of jobs outside area of responsibility

maintains appropriate licenses, training and certifications

Works on assignments that are moderately difficult requiring judgment in resolving issues

May assist in recommendation of processes on new assignments

Adheres to all quality guidelines

Works with limited supervision. Work occasionally involves review of output by work lead or supervisor

Anticipated hourly range: $20.80 - $29.80
