Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated R&D Plant Biologist to join our dynamic team in St. Louis. Our company focuses on sustainable weed management by reducing herbicide use through gene editing and synthetic biology. This role involves working on discovering resistant traits and gene mutations, measuring resistance to substances, and conducting project-based R&D in a startup environment. You will collaborate with a molecular biologist, coordinate transformation protocols, and handle gene editing and transitioning processes.
ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and design transformation protocols and gene editing procedures.Execute protocols and conduct gene transitioning.Collect samples from the greenhouse as needed.Develop and conduct microbiological and basic molecular biological assays.Register raw data and experiment results following standard operating procedures.Follow quality control procedures and LIMS system.Write and execute detailed research protocols.Essential SkillsExperience in plant tissue culture and transformation (3-5 years).Knowledge of different types of plant transformationStrong knowledge in biology, IC50 assay, plant tissue culture, plant transformation, and molecular biology.Proficiency in PCR techniques.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working in a startup environment is preferred.Critical thinking skills and the ability to make decisions independently.Industry experience (2-3 years) is highly valued over academic experience.Ability to work systematically and independently without immediate oversight.Work Environment
This role will be managed remotely, with supervisors located in Argentina part of the time. Effective remote communication and troubleshooting skills are essential. You will work in a fast-paced startup environment and be part of cutting-edge research for new projects
