This position offers a great career growth opportunity for a passionate, results-oriented individual who will drive innovation and new product development for our North American Research and Development team in Mentor, Ohio (a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio).
In this role, you will:
Champion adhesive innovation: Lead the development and commercialization of adhesive platforms that meet current and future market needs, collaborating across functions to ensure alignment and timely delivery. Manage execution activities with a small team of direct reports.
Develop a strategic adhesive platform roadmap: Proactively identify market trends, emerging technologies, and customer needs to inform the development of a robust adhesive platform strategy.
Drive adhesive technology platform projects: Leverage your expertise in adhesive formulation, coating, and converting processes to develop innovative solutions that differentiate Avery Dennison in the marketplace through new product development.
Collaborate with key stakeholders: Partner with Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure that adhesive platform development aligns with business objectives and customer demands.
Build strong supplier relationships: Collaborate with adhesive suppliers to identify new opportunities for innovation and drive growth and differentiation.
QualificationsMinimum Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Engineering with a preference for Master's degree or higher in Polymer Science/Engineering, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering
6+ years of industry experience in adhesive development or a related field.
Demonstrated capability to lead ideas to commercialization and familiarity with new product development stage-gate process (preferred).
Strong project and time management capabilities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate across functions and drive alignment.
Solid technical background with expertise in analytical skills, problem-solving, and statistical data analysis.
Deep understanding of adhesive technologies, including emulsions, UV curables, solvents, hot melts, and pressure-sensitive adhesives.
Experience developing and commercializing adhesive products for the pressure sensitive industry or graphic films (preferred)
Familiarity with PVC chemistries and formulation of flexible PVC films (preferred).
