POSITION OVERVIEW:
The R&D Process Lab Intern will have the opportunity to learn about inorganic material synthesis, materials analysis, and cement chemistry.
The R&D Process Lab Intern will support exploratory research projects and conduct experiments in our lab-scale material production setup. The primary objective of these projects is to investigate the relationship between process parameters, material structure, and properties. Responsibilities will include tasks such as solution preparation, mineral dissolution, gas absorption, precipitation, solids dewatering, and drying.
This position will be part of the Process team within the R&D department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Join efforts for laboratory safety and cleanliness Perform experiments by varying initial concentration of our reactants and reaction temperature Analyze models for calcium carbonate precipitation kinetics in literature and synthesize the information with experimental data Assist exploratory process runs with dual reactor setup Perform the main analytical techniques to learn about produced materialsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ years of study in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or a related field 1+ years of experience in a wet chemistry lab setting Eagerness to learn Willingness to work in a team A “can-do” attitudePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Chemical engineering background with materials research experience Experience in wet chemistry techniques such as titration, filtration, drying, weighing, pH measurement, etc. Familiarity with analytical techniques including: XRD, PSA, SEM, BETCOMPENSATION:
The hourly range for this internship is $25.00 - $30.00.
