R&D Project Leader

The R&D Project Leader will serve as the central figure coordinating research and development efforts between the local site, Saint-Gobain's global R&D centers (Northborough, Shanghai, and Germany), and internal teams like the Application Engineering "Capture Team" and the onsite "Tech Center." This role will be pivotal in smoothly transitioning new developments from the concept stage to full production, while also maintaining comprehensive oversight of all North American R&D activities.
In addition to leading multiple high-priority projects, the R&D Project Leader will track and report on R&D resource allocation and project performance. Acting as a primary contact for North American R&D efforts, this individual will represent the regional activities on a global scale and foster the local R&D network.
+ Master's Degree in Material/product Engineering or similar required
+ Innovation and/or business related additional degree preferred
+ 3+ years of experience in R&D project management, ideally within manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or a related field.
+ 2+ years of Proven experience with project methodologies such as stage-gate, Agile, or Design Thinking.
+ Strong ability to coordinate cross-functional teams across regions preferred.
+ Knowledge of DOE, DFMEA, and other validation and process design tools required
Essential functions include:
+ Project Leadership and coordination
+ Lead R&D projects through all stages: from market case analysis, lab testing, prototyping, Design of Experiments (DOE), and validation panels to process design and DFMEA.
+ Use project management methodologies, including Early Product Management, stage-gate processes, Agile, and Design Thinking, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
+ R&D Portfolio Administration:
+ Maintain a comprehensive database of all R&D projects in North America, including those outside of direct supervision.
+ Track and report key performance metrics to provide visibility on resource allocation, project performance, and alignment with strategic goals.
+ Methodology and Continous Improvement:
+ Implement and adapt project management methodologies that fit different types of innovation workflows, such as Early Product Management and Agile methods.
