R&D Department Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABB’s success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.You will be mainly accountable for:•\tAnalyze ABB sensor technology and build know how of current sensor design and manufacture.•\tBenchmark sensors in the market to understand the Pros and Cons •\tGenerate ideas for next generation sensors and implement them into the sensor design, testing and production setup. •\tImprove ABB current sensors for quality and reliability•\tWork with electronic engineer and algorithm engineer for optimizing the sensor, understanding the sensor behavior in different application (high temperature, high pressure, high humidity, etc…) •\tDesign of tests and test setups to verify the sensor design in Lab before release•\tInvestigate the material property and select best fit material for ABB sensor.

Qualifications for the role

\tStrong physics background in sensor technology\tGood experimental skills on measurement setup\tMaterial (glue, rubber etc) application knowledge is required \tFamiliar with electromagnetic field / flow simulation tools ANSYS, COMSOL etc. for both modelling and simulation will be a plus.\tStrong Piezo knowledge will be a great plus.\tSensor research and hands-on experience \tEducation: Ph.D \tMajor: Physics Engineering, Sensor technology or Electronic System\tFluent oral and written English\tThe passion for technology and engineering, how things work\tStrong analytic and problem-solving skills. Prefer to working on problems\tThe ability to work in groups and be self-motivated\tThe ability to be an effective contributor when working in multi-cultural teams with oversea colleagues.
