In York we are a team of 170 amazing people from over 30 nationalities and a variety of academia. Our objective is to provide ideas, technical innovation, and scientific support (for product, process and technology) to continually improve and grow the confectionery business. We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced **R&D Specialist** to join our chocolate innovation team at our offices in York. This really is a fantastic and broad role that will see you work with many different markets and stakeholders to develop and deliver world class innovations across our Confectionery factories worldwide. **A day in the life of an R&D Specialist...** Working on a range of diverse global projects you will manage the development, innovation and renovation of our products, processes, and systems from inception through all stages of development. You will: + Provide expertise and technical leadership across product development, leading innovation and renovation projects. + Build and document knowledge and share latest methods, trends and developments in confectionery. + Recommend, plan and deliver technical and scientific support for projects and knowledge building activities. + Lead the delivery of projects End to End ensuring deliverables are achieved, including planning, leading pilot trials, and sharing results with key stakeholders. + Manage cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders across the business. + Manage and execute project deliverables in compliance with global and local processes. **What will make you successful?** To be successful in this role you will already have fantastic experience in an R&D or operational role within the food industry. You will be passionate, proactive and results focused whilst acting as an ambassador for the Nestlé Confectionery brand across the Globe. You’ll also: + Have completed a degree or higher in the field of Food Science/Chemistry or similar. + Demonstrate strong product development, technical product knowledge and demonstrate proficient R&D product development skills in confectionery or sugar science as desirable. + Understand the technical lead role within projects ensuring strong partnership with defined stakeholders. + Possess the ability to solve problems and mitigate risks on product technology development. + You will have a proven understanding of analytical testing, statistics and sensory testing in product development. + Demonstrate an innovative mindset and ability to evaluate new technologies, ingredients and processes to drive product development and recognise synergies across the Science team to effectively use new ideas/concepts. Some UK and international travel may be required, estimated at 5-10%. **What you need to know** What can we offer in return?
