The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity to join EY’s Global Grants Credits & Incentives team. You will work alongside other STEM professionals, as well as tax and accounting colleagues.

As an IT / Software Consultant, you will engage with a variety of clients, from owner-managed businesses to multinational groups, who are at the forefront of developing cutting-edge technology. Your work will help the UK maintain its position as a market leader by encouraging investment in research and development.

 

Key Responsibilities

Collaborative Teamwork: Work effectively as a member of a project team, demonstrating strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members of diverse skill sets. Technical Reporting: Write compelling technical project reports that highlight the key technical aspects of client projects to support R&D tax claims. Client Interaction: Engage with clients' senior technical and software staff to develop a comprehensive understanding of their projects and identify how aspects of these projects meet R&D Guidelines. Problem-Solving: Apply advanced problem-solving skills and critical thinking to project execution and delivery. Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to provide high levels of service. Client Meetings: Support client meetings and deliver high-quality advice to major clients, ensuring risk and reputation management. Adaptability: Demonstrate a keen desire to adapt and apply existing knowledge to different sectors and build on core capabilities.

Skills and Attributes for Success

Interest in Software Technologies: A strong interest in software technologies and programming languages. University Experience: Experience working on software projects and dealing with technological limitations during university. Quick Learner: Ability to quickly understand new software technologies and concepts (e.g., platforms, APIs, frameworks) and discuss them in-depth. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to interact readily with other technical professionals, excellent interpersonal skills, and proficiency in producing concise summaries of information. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and first-time accuracy. Financial Interest: Interest in project and company finances and the application of tax treatment.

Qualifications

Degree: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Development, or a related field. Communication and Negotiation: Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a collaborative approach to management. Flexibility: Ability to constantly learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment. Experience: Industry experience or previous R&D tax experience.
