Job Description

Grace is hiring an R&D Technician Specialist to join our industry leading hydroprocessing catalyst joint venture, Advanced Refining Technologies (ART). This is an on-site position working in the Process Innovation Center (PIC) in Curtis Bay/Baltimore, MD. You will work in both laboratory and pilot scale environments. This is a unique hands-on opportunity to support R&D in the development of new and improved products and processes and will report to the ART Lead Technician. 

 

 

This is a Monday - Friday work schedule. In addition, you must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays, however, the business need for this coverage has been very minimal.

 

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance, and up to 50 pounds with assistance. 

Responsibilities Operate lab and pilot scale equipment such as spray dryers, mixers, extruders and calciners to prepare catalyst. Submit samples for analytical analysis. Safely store and handle potentially hazardous chemicals. Record and communicate experimental results in a clear, organized manner. Maintain a safe and orderly workspace. Provide support during manufacturing trials and other non-standard campaigns. Ensure equipment is properly maintained by recognizing concerns, entering SAP work orders and following their status to completion. Abide by and participate in EHS&S rules and initiatives including permitting, inspections and other activities.

 

Physical Requirements and Environment Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, Level A suit, full face respirator Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb stairs and ladders over 100 ft. Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a pilot plant facility with highly hazardous materials Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with highly hazardous materials Required Qualifications H.S. Diploma and 5 years laboratory, manufacturing or skilled trade experience OR AA Degree or higher in a technical program in lieu of experience Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance and up to 50 pounds with assistance.  Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform equipment setup and minor maintenance/repair. Strong personal commitment to safety Detail oriented with good organizational and interpersonal skills Self-directed and able to work independently or collaboratively Positive professional attitude Strong written and verbal communication skills
  Preferred Qualifications 2 years college level coursework in chemistry, engineering or math Familiarity with computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and SAP
