We are looking for an R&D Technologist to join our team. The main responsibilities include conducting organoleptic testing to determine flavors for new products, creating formulas in Excel, and interfacing with vendors and clients to request samples, relay information, and ask relevant questions. There is a sales aspect to this position as well.

ResponsibilitiesConduct organoleptic testing to determine necessary flavors for new products.Create formulas using Excel.Interface with vendors and clients to request samples and relay information.Source ingredients to fulfill formula requirements.Develop and quote new product formulas for customers.Research regulatory requirements for all ingredients including trademarked and specialty ingredients.Prepare supplement and nutrition fact panels and ensure labels meet FDA regulations.Review all incoming labels before releasing for production use.Mix samples for testing, tasting, and formula changes.Review technical data and product specifications.Obtain proper documentation from current and potential vendors.Test food and nutritional products to ensure compliance with FDA, SQF, FSMA, USDA Organic, GMP, Kosher, and Halal regulations.Research current markets and latest technologies to develop new product recipes.Involved in formulation design, cost calculation, ingredient sourcing, application, sample preparation, and new product scale-up coordination.Track and maintain records of formula experimentation and prepare performance reports.Ensure food products are fit for distribution and work on packaging innovation and technology.Clean, maintain, operate, and sanitize laboratory equipment.Assist with customer complaint investigations or product issues.Collect and evaluate data to estimate costs, resources, and labor needed for production.Perform market research on estimated costs and prepare bids.Discuss ways to improve food and nutritional product recipes.Update job knowledge by studying food and nutritional product trends and participating in professional training and organizations.Communicate with customers to determine product specifications and requests.Work with shipping and receiving to develop processes on price costing and shipping programs.Essential SkillsProficient in Excel, Outlook, and other MS software.Capable of interfacing with clients and vendors via email and phone.1 year of experience in R&D at a Food and Beverage company or a science degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Nutrition.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or R&D.Ability to look up product prices and negotiate the best prices.Work Environment

The work environment is climate-controlled and involves both office and production areas. The standard shift is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
