The Opportunity 
 

Hach (www.hach.com) is a leading provider of instruments and sensors that make water analysis faster, simpler, greener, and more informative. 

Based primarily on-site in Cork and collaborating broadly with system/software/electronic engineers, scientists, and production teams in Ireland and Geneva, Switzerland, the R&D Test Engineer is focused on developing design verification for newly developed Hach products and production test systems to ensure they meet their performance, quality, and reliability requirements. 
 

The position will perform technical, multi-disciplined tasks to improve product performance and manufacturing quality. This includes activities such as test design, documentation, historical data analysis and implementation/validation of equipment and process changes. 
 

In this role, a typical day will look like:

Design and develop design verification test systems for new product designs

Design, develop and deploy automated production test systems to Manufacturing Operations

Participate in creation of test requirements and test strategies

Provide cost and schedule estimates for test systems developed

Ensure test system designs meet testability and reliability criteria

May fabricate test systems as required

Adhere to Hach test system development standard work

Provide test system support to the Operations team by resolving issues and providing training on deployed test systems

Work closely with Engineering, Operations, Project Management and Quality personnel


The essential requirements of the job include: 

Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering (e.g. Software engineering, electronic engineering or similar)

3-5 years of electronics experience and strong software design (i.e. C++, C#, Python etc, PC-based application software rather than embedded)

Demonstrated experience in hardware (instrument) test system design

Comfortable dealing with electronics components and communication protocols (i.e. Modbus TCP)

Experience with manufacturing quality and control tools (i.e. calibration process, etc.) is a plus

Flexible to travel to Geneva 4 times a year
